2009 Northwest Indian Youth Conference

Agenda

The Coeur d'Alene Tribal Youth Council would like to thank Chance Rush and Pearl Yellowman for all their assistance in getting us started with Northwest Indian Youth Conference. We have learned so much and we hope that it will show throughout the conference.

For more information on Chance Rush, visit his Web site.

The theme for the 34th Annual Northwest Indian Youth Conference is "Our journey to the future, seeking balance and harmony through respect and culture."

"The Medicine Wheel is an ancient method for teaching important concepts about truth and life. Many Native American communities use a Medicine Wheel, although the colors and symbols are different depending upon the culture. The purpose is the same in each culture. These teachings, when applied to one’s life, have the power to influence significant change in attitudes, behaviors, values and intent."

We know that our actions, thoughts and feelings affect how we walk in this world. They guide our personal choices and behaviors. Look at your life and where can you improve emotionally, physically, spiritually, and mentally? The reator made us each unique and gave us our own gifts and abilities. It is our hope that during this conference you will further develop your talents and find new ways that will help you keep your life in balance.

In the spirit of the Northwest Indian Youth Conference we are dedicated to giving our young adults the opportunity to take healthy risks and develop the skills to succeed and lead the future generations. This will be a great learning experience for our youth and we are excited to share this time with you. We are looking for other youth groups to help us with opening prayers, introducing speakers, sharing your thoughts and songs, or presenting a workshop. It is our hope that the youth will take advantage of all the activities and opportunities that come their way. There are many adventures waiting that will help guide you to a balanced life.
